One of Florida State’s top 2018 commitments has decided to re-open his recruitment.
Houston Griffith, a 4-star defensive back from Bradenton, F.L., announced Wednesday evening that he is no longer pledged to the Seminoles:
I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment.

The IMG Academy senior, who has been in touch with Notre Dame, was Florida State’s second-highest rated prospect and the 60th overall player in the country, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s also 9th among corners and the 12th overall recruit in the state of Florida.
Coach Jimbo Fisher has been tied to Texas A&M for several weeks now and has yet to put out that fire with the ‘Noles fanbase — and clearly the ’18 class. If a decision isn’t made soon, whether that means Fisher is moving on or staying, FSU could be facing a serious recruiting issue as a top-15 class may be on the verge of falling apart.
Per the Tallahassee Democrat , longtime 2018 commit and Tallahassee native Amari Gainer spoke about the matter earlier on Wednesday saying the situation was “very unsettling.” Additionally, the father of current sophomore linebacker Josh Brown voiced his frustration and concern:
FSU AD and Administration needs to get this situation under control immediately. We are losing valuable commits because of the silence and lack of communication. This is ridiculous!!

Florida State (5-6) needs a win this Saturday against UL Monroe in order to become bowl eligible for the 36th straight season. The game is set for noon ET.
Don’t be surprised if a decision is made not long after the conclusion of the regular season finale.
