Following a dramatic week in which Jimbo Fisher has repeatedly declined to address rumors that he plans to accept the head coaching job at Texas A&M, it now appears that even if he wanted to return to Florida State for a tenth season, he may not have the option.
Bud Elliott of SB Nation’s Florida State website, Tomahawk Nation, reported Friday that several anonymous Seminole players have declared their intent to transfer if Jimbo Fisher remains Florida State’s coach.
“If he’s back, I’m out,” one player told Elliott.
The uncertainty surrounding Fisher’s status has already affected the Seminoles on the recruiting trail. On Wednesday, three Florida State commits backed out of their pledges.
Fisher is expected to expect the deal that has been offered to him by the Aggies, which is reportedly for 10 years and roughly $7.5 million. However, he has also announced his intention to coach the Seminoles’ final regular season game this Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe.
