Florida AD Scott Stricklin responds to coaching rumors

Florida joined the list of programs in search of a new head coach after it parted ways with Jim McElwain.

A search brings a lot of rumors flying around and a short list of names who could be the next Gators’ head coach.

It also means the school itself spending a lot of time swatting away rumors, which could potentially hurt talks or contract negotiations with whomever they’re actually going after.

Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin, a pretty active Twitter user, did just that on Thursday afternoon after a rumor popped up from a radio show host out of Houston.

Here is the original tweet about the rumor.

While Florida might very well be pursuing the names mentioned, it’s nothing Florida would ever admit publically as Stricklin showed. UCF coach Scott Frost was another name that popped up recently.

Regardless of whom the rumor is about, kudos  to Stricklin for the manner in which he got the message accross. At least he’s trying to stomp out rumors instead of letting them fester in the media, he should get extra points for being poetic about it.
