Florida recruiting: Latest updates on the Gators’ class

With updated recruiting rankings, Florida moved up a spot in the top 10 and a pair of Gators commits received a ratings boost.

Where Florida’s class ranks

Florida’s 2018 class is ranked  No. 7 nationally and  No. 2 in the SEC. Eight of the Gators’ commits are 4-star recruits or higher. Florida has the SEC’s second-highest average star rating (90.11) behind Alabama (91.20).

Latest news

Randy Russell is no longer a 3-star recruit. The Florida commit earned his fourth star this week from 247Sports, which now ranks him as the nation’s No. 12 safety and No. 178 overall prospect.

Russell had an impressive performance last week in his preseason game against IMG Academy, making several big hits and leveling Miami QB commit Artur Sitkowski.

Gators wide receiver commit Ja’Marr Chase jumped to No. 70 nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings and linebacker pledge David Reese also moved up from No. 341 overall to No. 277.

Quarterback Matt Corral dropped down nine spots to No. 32 nationally, causing him to lose his fifth star in the 247Sports Composite. He is ranked the No. 3 pro-style QB in the country.
