Florida player finds out about his own injury over Twitter

Imagine scrolling through Twitter and minding your own business. The head coach of the football team you play for is talking to the media and you’re following along.

All the sudden, you’re injured. That’s what happened to Florida tight end DeAndre Goolsby on Wednesday afternoon.

Gainesville Sun reporter Graham Hall tweeted out what McElwain said and Goolsby responded with a shocked emoji and “sheesh, this is news to me.” McElwain specified that it’s a leg injury, but a breakdown in communication has clearly occurred here or Goolsby is just playing around.

There is clearly some sorting out to do here. Goolsby didn’t catch a pass against Michigan but has played a role in the past two seasons. He caught 38 balls for 342 yards and three touchdowns last season and had 277 yards on 17 receptions including one touchdown in 2015.

Meanwhile the Gators have much more to deal with outside of football with Hurricane Irma creeping up to the eastern coast of Florida. The kickoff has been moved up due to the impending storm.
