No updates on the quarterback battle

Florida coach Jim McElwain was once again mum on Wednesday when asked about an update on the starting quarterback battle between Luke Del Rio, Feleipe Franks and Malik Zaire. Instead of naming a starter or hinting that any form of separation has been made, McElwain said that “I think they’re all going to play” in the season-opener against Michigan on Sept. 2.

The brief media viewing of practice didn’t help make any headway, either, as McElwain continued to rotate the starters during the window open to media. This time, Malik Zaire handled first-team duties.

Solid All-SEC presence

The Gators may not have been chosen to win the SEC — or even the SEC East, for that matter — but that didn’t stop coaches from naming a slew of Gators to their preseason All-SEC teams.

In fact, Florida had 11 players named to the preseason all-conference list on Wednesday, second-highest behind only Alabama.
