DieHards.com’s panel of game pickers have been here every week making their selections throughout the Big 12 season.
With only one game this week, we can’t really rank them in confidence.
So consider this as a freebie as we also invite a new member of the Cox Media Group family to also provide his selection as well for the Big 12 title game game Saturday in Arlington, Texas.
Oklahoma enters the game as a 7-point favorite over TCU. Here’s what the panel thinks about this week’s game.
Selections for Big 12 title game:
Suzanne Halliburton, Austin American-Statesman:
Oklahoma 23, TCU 16 — It dawned on me while listening to Gary Patterson that he’d personally love to keep Baker Mayfield from winning the Heisman. The Horned Frogs defense is good enough to mess with Mayfield’s numbers, but the TCU offense still doesn’t have enough firepower.
John Shinn, DieHards.com Oklahoma beat writer:
Oklahoma 45, TCU 28 — Oklahoma is too close to a third straight Big 12 championship and second College Football Playoff appearance to back off the gas now. Offensively, the third-ranked Sooners have too much firepower for the 11th-ranked Horned Frogs to keep pace.
Shehan Jeyarajah: DieHards.com Big 12 reporter:
Matt Jennings: DieHards.com breaking news editor:
Oklahoma 45, TCU 21 — TCU’s defense is excellent and will keep things close for a while. But the Horned Frogs don’t have the offensive weapons or the quarterback play to keep up with Baker Mayfield and Co. Late in the second half, Oklahoma will start hitting some big plays against a worn-out TCU defense to cruise to a comfortable victory and a playoff spot.
Tim Griffin: DieHards.com deputy editor:
Oklahoma 48, TCU 17 — Great teams step up on this platform when the nation is watching. The Oklahoma offense and Baker Mayfield has done it all season. On Saturday, it’s the Oklahoma defense’s turn.
