Fan Sound Off: Dominating defense leaves LSU fans feeling strong after shutout

LSU-LSU football-fan sound off

No. 13 LSU shut down BYU, 27-0, on Saturday in the Superdome in New Orleans. Originally scheduled to be played in Houston, the neutral-site game was moved to a not-so-neutral location for the Cougars after Hurricane Harvey dealt a devastating blow to the Houston area.

LSU never gave BYU a chance. The Cougars managed just 97 yards — minus-5 yards rushing on 14 attempts — and never crossed the 50-yard line. Meanwhile, LSU was efficient on offense, totaling 479 yards. Derrius Guice ran for 122 yards on 27 attempts with 2 touchdowns, Darrel Williams rushed for 92 yards and a score and QB Danny Etling was 14 for 17 for 171 passing yards. LSU had a startling time of possession advantage, holding the ball for 41:54 minutes compared to 18:06 for BYU.

Tigers fans were pleased with the Week 1 performance and singled out the defense for its dominating night. Join the conversation with LSU fans here and tell us what you thought of the game.
