Fan Sound Off: Alabama wins big one, but offense and kicking game criticized

No. 1 Alabama took care of No. 3 Florida State on Saturday to break in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

As the Crimson Tide often do, they put the clamps on another opponent, intercepting a pair of passes, blocking a punt, blocking a field goal and recovering a fumbled kickoff in not allowing FSU opportunities to get back into the game.

Jalen Hurts went 10 for 18 for 96 yards with a 53-yard TD toss to Calvin Ridley. Hurts also gained 55 yards on the ground and Damien Harris — he blocked the punt — led the Tide with 73 rushing yards.

FSU gained just 40 yards rushing on 27 attempts.

Alabama fans are used to winning, but a 17-point win in the season opener against the third-ranked Seminoles and former Nick Saban assistant Jimbo Fisher was reason for excitement.

Nicole Wells:   Defense played great!!! Need to score more points off of those turnovers!! Offense has some room for improvement!

Donald Graham:   Our kicking game has to get better, Roll Tide

Rick Fulkerson:   Ugly on offense but Great special teams and defense. Celebrate the W!!

Trisha Crawford Oldfield:   It wasn’t pretty but it’s a win!!

Siretha Woodard Dansby:  Protect the quarterback! We will improve every week! Roll Tide Roll!

Chris Duffey:  Defense and special teams are solid offensive line needs work but by the 3rd or 4th week think they will be fine. FSU defense was great tonight also so that was enough to make both teams look sloppy on offense. Great game and ROLL TIDE.

Trish Martin:   Yea, still need a kicker! Can’t Saban hear us?

Sheron Lansdon Poole:  Roll Tide! Not good offense with so many interceptions & unable to capitalize. Offense needs lots of improvement, and we need a good kicker!

Crystal Yates:  A lot of improvement will be coming. But always proud of the TIDE… Roll Tide it was a good game though.

Rick Wenger:   Always like to win ugly or not. We don’t seem to have much imagination on offense. Still need to use the tight end. Fine to have Ridley as the go to guy but we’ve got to mix it up more.
