A fan once asked Penn State’s James Franklin for an autograph at a urinal

For some fans, getting an autograph from their favorite coach is worth waiting in any situation. Even if that means hanging out in a bathroom.

Just ask Penn State coach James Franklin, who encountered this very situation after an alumni event.

Here’s the story, from ESPN’s Heather Dinich:

“While I was standing at the stall, using the commode, the guy was tapping me on the shoulder with a Sharpie asking me to autograph a ball,” Franklin said. “I turned around and looked over my shoulder and said, ‘Can you give me a minute?’ And he stepped over about 5 feet and waited by the sink. When I got done washing my hands, he was there waiting for the autograph.”

Why couldn’t the fan simply wait until Franklin was done at the stall before approaching him? Why did this fan follow him into bathroom at all instead of just waiting patiently outside?

College football fans aren’t exactly known for their patience.
