This was supposed to be the year Bruce Pearl led Auburn back to the NCAA tournament. Now it may be the year he loses his job, according to one ESPN report.
Per Mark Schlabach of ESPN, Pearl is not cooperating with the school’s internal investigation into the men’s basketball program. And per Schlabach, school officials have advised Pearl that his job could be on the line if he refuses to cooperate.
On Tuesday it came out that Auburn had fired Chuck Person on Oct. 18, following his involvement with the FBI’s investigation into college basketball. Auburn has also suspended two of its best players in Danjel Purifoy and Austin Wiley.
Auburn dropped an exhibition game to D-II opponent Barry last week. The Tigers open the 2017-18 season against Norfolk State on Friday. The game is set to set at 8:00 PM ET.
