Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield will soon preapre for the 2018 NFL Draft after he wraps up his illustrious collegiate career. But where he goes and in what round is still up in the air.
ESPN staff writer Matt Bowen ranked the teams that best fit the Sooners quarterback and Heisman hopeful, and he expects Mayfield to be taken within the first few rounds of next year’s draft.
“With a playmaking skill set, an accurate arm and the quick release to make tight window throws, I’ve already dug into the tape and projected Mayfield as an early Day 2 pick,” Bowen wrote.
The best fit, though for Mayfield? According to Bowen, it’s the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins are out to a 4-7 record this season under second-year coach Adam Gase. Mayfield, the leader of one of the best offenses in college football, would join a Dolphins team that ranks No. 30 in points per game in the NFL.
Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler isn’t the long-term answer for Miami, so Mayfield could get a solid look from Miami, considering the senior’s array of talents.
