ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit says Penn State has best student section in the country

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit released his annual preseason “Herbie Awards” on Wednesday, and Penn State was in the same place for the second straight year: on top of his “best student section” rankings.

This is the second straight year Herbstreit has handed out a preseason award for the best student section in the country, and Penn State has won it both times. Here is his top six:

Kirk Herbstreit’s top student sections in the country

Penn State
Wisconsin
Texas A&M
Utah
Colorado and Florida (tie)

This is just a preliminary list. Herbstreit will unveil his Herbie winners after the season, and Penn State might have a couple other awards to claim by then. QB Trace McSorely is nominated for “Most Exciting Player, RB Saquon Barkley for “Ultimate Game Changer” and LB Jason Cabinda for “Ultimate Herbie.”

Herbstreit picked Ohio State to win the national championship, and has Northwestern as his Big Ten sleeper team.
