ESPN’s Desmond Howard picks Wisconsin to win Big Ten, make College Football Playoff

Count ESPN’s Desmond Howard as a believer in Wisconsin’s national championship hopes.

On the College GameDay season preview show on Saturday, Howard predicted Wisconsin would win the Big Ten Championship Game. He also has the Badgers beating Penn State in a rematch of the 2016 conference title game, thus earning a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Howard said Wisconsin will have revenge on its mind against the Nittany Lions.

“This groups is going to play Penn State in the Big Ten Championship Game,” Howard said. “Those guys are going to be a little chippy. I think the Badgers are going to win the Big Ten.”

For his College Football Playoff picks, Howard had Alabama, Miami, Stanford and Wisconsin. He then had Stanford beating the Crimson Tide for the national title.

Howard’s Big Ten pick wasn’t the only surprise, either. He picked Georgia to win the SEC Championship — yet had Alabama representing the SEC in the four-team playoff.

Howard’s prediction isn’t the first time an ESPN analyst has thought big things for the Badgers. David Pollack thinks Wisconsin will be ranked in the top 4 at some point this season.
