The Tennessee coaching search has been off the rails today, just like it was off the rails on Sunday.
And as candidates emerge, reportedly come to deals, and then reportedly never had a significant discussion about a deal, Tennessee fans, former players, and media members are all over the place on Twitter.
As each candidate comes and goes and Lane Kiffin’s name keeps coming up, former Volunteers quarterback Erik Ainge attempted to stop any talk of Kiffin. His attempt involved calling out Kiffin in a Direct Message on Twitter and then tweeting the screenshot. It went poorly:
I don’t want him. He doesn’t want to be back here either. Kiffin is not the answer. I promise. See our convo. No. Thanks. Lane. pic.twitter.com/HLjYDQ13s4
— Erik Ainge (@ErikAinge3) November 29, 2017
Ainge is likely to delete this tweet, so here’s a screenshot in case he does:
Anyone on Twitter should know that Lane’s game on the app is undefeated, and Ainge makes himself look completely childish with his jabs at Kiffin, who didn’t initiate anything from what we can tell.
Not sure what Ainge thought he would accomplish with this tweet, but all that it did was embarrass him quite a lot and give Kiffin another Twitter W. You come at the King, you best not miss.
