Derrick Gragg to Arkansas not official as Razorbacks still have other candidates in play for AD job

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas has four candidates currently in consideration for its athletic director position, a source familiar with the search has confirmed to SEC Country.

Several reports circulated Thursday afternoon the Razorbacks were set to hire Tulsa athletic direct Derrick Gragg for the job. SEC Country’s source confirmed those reports were premature. The source said Gragg is a top candidate, but three others still remain a possibility.

Whoever receives the job will be the permanent replacement for Jeff Long, who was fired Nov. 15 after nearly a decade as the Razorbacks athletic director. Julie Cromer Peoples is serving as interim athletic director. She informed Bielema of his firing, at which time she stated she would be leading the search for a new head football coach.

The Razorbacks fired Bret Bielema on Nov. 24 after finishing the season 4-8, 1-7 in SEC play. Bielema, who was hired by Long, spent five seasons in Fayetteville.
