Is there a new name in the QB race?

Chances are probably pretty good that freshman quarterback Dylan McCaffrey will end up redshirting this season, but passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton had some nice things to say about him this week.

It was enough for Orion Sang of the Free Press to wonder if McCaffrey could force his way into the quarterback race.  

No one from Michigan is letting on to how the quarterback competition between Wilton Speight, Brandon Peters, John O’Korn and the other signal callers is going. Sang gives his odds on the battle for the starting job.

5-star recruit finds Michigan as ‘total package’

Michigan is the “total package” for Christopher Hinton, the 2019 5-star defensive end from Atlanta who committed to the Wolverines on Aug. 5. That’s what Tim Hardy, Hinton’s coach at Greater Atlanta Christian School, told Allen Trieu of and the Detroit News.

Holiday trip for the Wolverines?

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports is better known for his NCAA Tournament bracket predictions, but how good is he at preseason football bowl projections? He predicts 10 Big Ten teams in bowls and has Michigan heading to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl against Oregon. 

Game preview: Air Force

Before Michigan goes to any bowl game, it has a regular season to play. Game 3 on this season’s schedule is Sept. 16 at home against Air Force and its always troublesome option offense. Here is our preview and prediction for the game. 

Life in the new recruiting world
