LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond is hoping to add several key pieces to a secondary bracing for some major departures.
Raymond, who spent Monday in Baton Rouge visiting with 4-star defensive back Kelvin Joseph, a one-time commitment, will hit the road for Florida on Tuesday. LSU’s secondary coach is set to spent the day at American Heritage (Fla.) High School before going in-home with 5-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr., his father tells SEC Country.
Surtain, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect, is the top-ranked cornerback in the country for the Class of 2018.
Surtain named LSU as his leader last summer and has maintained that through the bulk of his recruitment. However, the U.S. Army All-American is bracing for his official visits in January before a decision expected for National Signing Day in February.
