Jalen Hurts is the reigning SEC Offensive Player of the Year. Jalen Hurts was a minute and a half away from leading Alabama to the national championship. Jalen Hurts is a teenager.
But, after a less-than-stellar passing performance in Alabama’s first game of the season, Hurts once again finds himself under scrutiny for his ability to win games for the Crimson Tide through the air.
And it’s none other than Colin Cowherd taking shots at the Alabama sophomore.
What started as a debate between Alabama and Ohio State on his show Speak for Yourself on Wednesday morning turned into Cowherd giving his take on Hurts.
“Jalen Hurts is easily, easily, the most limited quarterback in your top-10 teams, and I think eventually it’s gonna bite Alabama” he said.

On Saturday Hurts completed 10 of 18 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t throw an interception, and he also ran for 15 times for 55 yards.
“I think Alabama can’t throw the ball down the field,” Cowherd said. “And eventually it’ll catch up to them.”
Hurts’ touchdown pass Saturday was a 53-yard deep ball to Calvin Ridley.
And if Alabama’s defense does what it does, Hurts won’t need to light up the stat sheet with his arm, but he can.
