Coaching rumors: Former LSU coach Les Miles interested in Oregon State job

Les Miles reportedly is interested in the possibility of moving West.

On Monday, the Corvallis Gazette-Times’ Kevin Hampton reported that the former LSU coach wants to be considered for the open Oregon State job. The Beavers are looking for a coach after Gary Andersen departed in October.

Oregon State is 1-8 this season, with its lone victory coming against Portland State on Sept. 2. Miles went 114-34 as the Tigers’ coach from 2005 to 2016.

At first glance, Oregon State would seem like a strange fit for the former LSU leader. But it’s not surprising that Miles would be interested in the job, given that he was out of coaching this year. Likely, he wants to be considered for many — if not all — the open Power 5 positions at the moment.

It will be fascinating to see if Miles lands somewhere by next season. At age 63, age could become a factor for him in his attempt to gain a new position.
