What’s the easiest way to tell it’s November in Clemson?
The orange britches are back.
Clemson (8-1, 6-1) will have the opportunity to clinch the ACC Atlantic division when they host Florida State (3-5, 3-4) on Saturday.
So in keeping with tradition, the Tigers will be donning their championship orange pants for the showdown with the Seminoles, according to TigerNet.com reporter David Hood.
Clemson, which is ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff, will secure a bid in the ACC Championship game against probable opponent Miami (No. 7 in CFP) by beating Florida State.
The orange pants reminds players of what’s at stake.
“It kind of gets us excited. You know when you put those on it’s big time football,” linebacker Kendall Joseph said. “In football every game counts but it’s a little something extra special when you put those orange pants on. It means it’s championship season. When you put them on, it’s time to represent and do what we have to do.”
Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant reiterated that the orange pants makes for a significant symbol.
“That means we are playing for a championship. It’s championship time, the championship phase of our journey,” Bryant said. “When we bring out the orange pants, that means the championship is on the line. You don’t just get to wear those. It has a special meaning to it. It means we are playing for some hardware.”
Florida State-Clemson will be played at 3:3o p.m. (EST) and televised on ESPN.
