Clemson announces starting quarterback, set to face Auburn in Week 2

No one is going to replace Deshaun Watson, but someone has to replace Deshaun Watson.

The Clemson Tigers announced their starting quarterback on Tuesday. And now the Auburn Tigers have a clear idea of who they will go up against in the all-Tigers Week 2 matchup.

Clemson went with junior Kelly Bryant to take over the reins from national champion Watson, who put together one of the best Clemson careers ever. Bryant has played in 12 games during his career so far with the Tigers, completing 13 of 18 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. He has also run 35 times for 178 yards and another three touchdowns.

Last season, Auburn gave eventual title winner Clemson one of its biggest scares of the season, taking Watson and head coach Dabo Swinney down to the wire in a 19-13 loss at Jordan-Hare Stadium on the season’s opening Saturday.

The Tigers from Auburn will look to get revenge on Sept. 9 in Week 2 this year, with Clemson hosting. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
