Michigan players took note to what Florida players said leading up to their Week 1 matchup.
Florida running back Mark Thompson tweeted in the summer that he couldn’t wait to “ beat the brakes” off Michigan. After the Wolverines’ 33-17 win over the Gators on Saturday, Michigan players — both current and former — had some fun on social media.
In Week 2 there’s another Michigan opponent who seems confident about beating the No. 8 Wolverines when they meet Saturday (Noon ET, ABC). Cincinnati senior running back Mike Boone does not seemed fazed with the task of going into the Big House as 34.5-point underdogs.
“I’ve got no doubt in my mind that we can go out and shock the world,” Boone told the Cincinnati Enquirer this week. “We’re focused this week. Razor-sharp focus. We just want to come out and execute.”
Sure, this is not as bold as saying you’re going to “beat the brakes” off a team or having your coach say you will “ beat the heck” out of your next opponent. But it’s still something Michigan players can use as some bulletin board material.
They had plenty in Week 1, and it seemed to help.
