Chip Kelly lands first UCLA commit in 3-star APB Kazmeir Allen

Chip Kelly-UCLA-commit-Kazmeir Allen

Hired only a few days ago, new UCLA coach Chip Kelly has wasted little time trying to beef up a Bruins recruiting class that had taken some hits this fall. He’s been making visits and now has his first official commitment.

Kazmeir Allen is a 3-star prospect from Tulare, Calif. who 247Sports rates as the No. 983 overall player in the 2018 class. He’s considered the 21st-best all-purpose back in the country and the No. 98 prospect in California.

At 5’10” and 185 pounds, Allen has scored 70 touchdowns this season for Tulare Union, which per MaxPreps is a state record. The previous record was held by Tyler Ebell, who played for UCLA in 2002-03.

Allen gives UCLA 17 commitments for 2018, good enough for the No. 14 class per 247Sports. Six players who had previously been pledged to the Bruins have decommitted this fall, most recently 3-star Sacramento defensive tackle Niti Liu, who reopened his commitment on Tuesday.
