Wisconsin football and basketball are always the main topics in Bucky’s Breakfast, Land of 10’s daily Badgers notebook — but we cover news, notes and analysis across Badgers sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Wisconsin football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Chikwe Obasih out indefinitely

The injury woes that dogged Wisconsin in 2016 have reappeared early in the 2017 season. The latest victim is defensive end Chikwe Obasih. The senior sustained a knee injury at practice Wednesday that will keep him out an indefinite amount of time. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Jeff Potrykus looks at how the Badgers will deal with the loss of a player who has started more games than any other current Badgers player.

The injury news wasn’t all bad, though, as running back Bradrick Shaw is reportedly ahead of schedule in returning from a leg injury, writes Jason Galloway of the Wisconsin State Journal.

Wisconsin-FAU to be played as scheduled

With Hurricane Irma bearing down on South Florida, some schools are postponing games or canceling them altogether. That is not be the case for the Badgers and Florida Atlantic, however. Wisconsin issued a press release Wednesday afternoon confirming the game will take place as scheduled on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT (noon ET) at Camp Randall Stadium. If the Owls were unable to return home afterward, Wisconsin would assist them with lodging, practice needs and anything else that arises.

The freaks of Wisconsin football

Football players are special athletes, and the ones that play for the Badgers are no different. Andy Baggot of looks at the athletic freaks who make up the Wisconsin roster.

New year, new celebration

You may have missed it after sophomore Bradrick Shaw leaped over the pile for the first touchdown of the season last Friday against Utah State, but the Wisconsin running backs, which have done post-score celebrations dating back to 2013, unveiled their creation for 2017 featuring Shaw and junior Chris James.

Aaron Rodgers explains his picture with Sam Dekker

Last weekend, former Wisconsin star Sam Dekker shared a picture of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers apparently fixing the sink at the forward’s new place in Los Angeles. It turns out the fix wasn’t too difficult, and Rodgers shared the story with the Wisconsin media on Wednesday.

J.J. Watt’s flood recovery fund continues to grow

Money for the Hurricane Harvey relief fund that former Wisconsin defensive end J.J. Watt started continues to pour in, the latest being a $5 million donation from the CEO of H-E-B, a large supermarket chain based in Texas. It left the amount raised at more than $27 million.

No problem with Alex Hornibrook’s arm strength

Many have criticized Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook’s arm strength since he made his college debut early in the 2016 season. The critics were at it again despite him throwing for career-high 244 yards and 3 touchdowns against Utah State last Friday. Our Jesse Temple is tired of hearing it and tells you why Hornibrook doesn’t have an arm-strength problem.

Opening the fan mailbag

There were plenty of topics to get to in this week’s fan mailbag, including what the depth chart looks like at running back after freshman Jonathan Taylor’s debut, why quarterback Jack Coan won’t be redshirted, and who could be the next commitment for coach Greg Gard and the basketball team.
