Cam Newton shared great message to FCS Howard after brother Caylin led Bison to biggest point-spread upset in college football history

Cam Newton was part of Howard’s celebration after the Bison scored a huge upset victory Saturday.

The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach caught up with Caylin Newton, Cam’s younger brother who led Howard to a 43-40 road victory over UNLV. It was the biggest point-spread upset in college football history, after UNLV entered the game as a 45-point favorite.

During his talk with Auerbach, Caylin revealed that Cam congratulated Howard in a cool way after the victory. Just before taking off to return to the East Coast, Cam spent time FaceTiming with Caylin and members of Howard’s offense.

Here’s more from Auerbach’s story:

“He wanted to congratulate us and tell us how proud he was of us, man,” Caylin Newton told The All-American by phone Monday. “That was a big deal to a lot of the guys.”

Cam’s additional message for Caylin specifically was short and sweet: “This is only the beginning.”

Such a great move by Cam. Of course, Caylin should feel a big boost in confidence after guiding his team to such an impressive win. He completed 15 of 26 passes for 140 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception during the big moment.

Kudos to Cam for offering those kind words.
