Breaking: Federal judge dismisses Houston Nutt’s lawsuit against Ole Miss

A federal judge has ruled in Ole Miss’ favor on Wednesday, dismissing the lawsuit filed by former Rebels’ coach Houston Nutt.

Antonio Morales of The Clarion-Ledger was first to report the dismissal.

The lawsuit, filed on July 12, cited breach of contract and breach of good faith and fair dealing. Nutt was seeking an apology for what he says was a smear campaign conducted in January 2016.

The two parties agreed the federal court did not have jurisdiction to settle this case. This lawsuit could still be refiled at the state level, but it’s unclear if that will happen.

This story will be updated as it develops.
