Booger McFarland: Alabama has only one loss, belongs in over Ohio State

Alabama came in at No. 5 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, but the Crimson Tide will need some help if they want a chance at winning the national title this season.

The loss to No. 2 Auburn on Saturday in the Iron Bowl has Nick Saban’s team looking in from the outside on both the playoff and SEC Championship Game, but ESPN college football commentator Booger McFarland doesn’t want to hear the comparisons of the Tide to Ohio State.

“Alabama has lost one,” McFarland said. “They have lost one game.”

That is true, and it came to the Tigers who might be playing the best football in the country right now, while Ohio State was blown out against an Iowa team that finished the regular season at 7-5. The Buckeyes were also defeated by Oklahoma, now ranked No. 3, in the second week of the season in Columbus.

If there is some chaos this upcoming weekend, both the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes, who have a chance to impress the committee with a win over No. 4 Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship game, will be waiting with nerves to see if they get the chance to play for the ultimate prize.
