Two weeks remain in the Big 12 schedule.
And the schedule-makers at the conference have saved the best for last.
Here is a look at the games for Saturday, ranked in terms of fan interest and engagement. All kickoff times are ET.
Big 12 games for Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017
Four-star games (Must-see television)
TCU at Texas Tech, noon ET, FS1 – TCU coach Gary Patterson always has delighted in pounding Texas Tech since Mike Leach hung 70 on his team in 2004. Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury probably feels the same way about the Horned Frogs because Patterson didn’t call off the dogs in an 82-27 TCU triumph in 2014. That should make for an interesting game next week. The Horned Frogs need to quickly bounce back at a traditionally tough place for them to win. Their Big 12 Championship Game hopes may depend on it.
Texas at West Virginia, noon, ESPN – Both teams are playing for bigger goals. West Virginia still has Big 12 Championship Game hopes if it can beat Texas and then win at Oklahoma the following week. And Texas needs one more victory to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2014. The Mountaineers have won four of the last six in the series and are 1-1 in Morgantown against Texas. The Longhorns claimed a tough 47-40 overtime victory in 2013 that was revenged with a 38-20 West Virginia triumph two years later.
Three-star games (Solid football entertainment)
Oklahoma at Kansas, 3:30 p.m., ESPN – The importance of this game swells with Oklahoma’s CFP title hopes, which should push the Sooners into the top 4 on Tuesday. But other than that, this appears to be a name-the-score kind of decision for the Sooners. Oklahoma has dominated the recent series with 12 consecutive triumphs against the Jayhawks since Terry Allen posted a 20-17 upset over John Blake in 1997. It was the last game of a three-game Kansas winning streak at that time. The Sooners have dominated with a 74-27-6 series advantage against the Jayhawks.
Kansas State at Oklahoma State, 3:30 p.m., ESPN2 – Bill Snyder already is in the College Football Hall of Fame. Mike Gundy will be there one day. The Cowboys need to keep winning to cement their hopes of qualifying for the Big 12 Championship Game and a likely shot at Bedlam revenge. Snyder’s Wildcats need to win one of their last two games to become bowl eligible for a ninth consecutive season. Oklahoma State has won five straight in Stillwater and seven of the last 10 in the series. Oklahoma State has 39 wins in the series.
Two-star game (Isn’t Thanksgiving shopping calling a little early?)
Iowa State at Baylor, 2:30 p.m., FSN – The once-streaking Cyclones have lost two games in a row and need a late surge to qualify for an attractive bowl game. Baylor is playing for pride after losing nine of its 10 games so far. Baylor holds a 9-6 lead in the series and has won 4 straight games in the series, including a 45-42 triumph in Ames last season. Baylor is 5-2 all time in Waco against Iowa State and has won 4 straight home games in the series. The Bears have averaged 52.5 points per game in its last five games against the Cyclones.
