Baylor wide receiver Gavin Holmes was carted off the field with an apparent left leg injury in the first quarter of the Bears’ game against Texas Tech.
Holmes was hit hard by Texas Tech safety Vaughnte Dorsey, who appeared to smash him right in the under part of his leg. The cart came out on the field to take him to the locker room for additional diagnosis.
Holmes has been playing especially well the past couple weeks. He caught a combined 9 passes for 138 yards and 2 total touchdowns in games against West Virginia and Kansas.
Losing Holmes for a significant period of time is a big deal. The Bears are already down three of their top wide receivers: Chris Platt, R.J. Sneed and Pooh Stricklin. Tony Nicholson is also dealing with injury issues.
Baylor trails Texas Tech 14-7 in the first quarter against Texas Tech in Arlington.
