Baker Mayfield responds to slight from ex-Oklahoma QB Chris Robison

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield takes every bit of trash talk at Oklahoma seriously — even if it’s not directed toward him personally.

Former Oklahoma signee and current Florida Atlantic quarterback Chris Robison posted a photo of a countdown clock in what appears to be Florida Atlantic’s locker room. The clock is counting down the seconds until the Owls face the Sooners in both teams’ 2018 season opener.

In the post, Robison wrote, “No talking, we just put it on tape,” which Mayfield joyfully responded to on Thursday, saying he couldn’t wait to watch Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray go up against the Owls.

Mayfield is no stranger to jawing back-and-forth with other players on Twitter, and it seems like something he’ll continue to do after his playing days at Oklahoma are over.

The Sooners will likely be heavy favorites over the Owls when the two meet to open the 2018 season. Oklahoma will be breaking in a quarterback, however, and Murray is presumably the heir apparent to Mayfield’s throne.

Robison originally signed with Oklahoma and enrolled early to join the team in January 2017, but he was dismissed from the program eight months later before the start of the 2017 season.

We will see who gets the last laugh when Florida Atlantic visits Norman, Oklahoma, come next season.
