Auburn has picked up major steam since late October, and now Las Vegas sees the Tigers as having a great chance to be playing for the ultimate prize after the first week of January.
Gus Malzahn’s team has rebounded from its heartbreaking loss to LSU by winning five straight, and that includes wins over two different teams that were No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings at the time.
According to the latest odds provided by Bovada, Auburn has risen from a 9/1 chance to win the national championship to 17/4, now tied for the second-best odds of any school.
The Crimson Tide, who lost to the Tigers 26-14 in last Saturday’s Iron Bowl, also have 17/4 odds along with Clemson. Oklahoma is the new favorite after Alabama’s loss, checking in at 4/1.
Here’s a list of the 11 teams still on the board, which pegs Georgia at 7/1. Notre Dame was taken off the board.
