On Saturday, ESPN reported that a former Auburn softball player is alleging abuse, sexual harassment and concerns about a school cover-up.
On Sunday, the school released an official statement saying that an investigation had been launched when the concerns were made.
“An investigation was promptly launched when allegations were made or concerns were raised,” the statement said. “While we aren’t allowed by law to comment on personnel issues or issues related to students, any suggestion that Auburn Athletics or university administration didnt take it seriously or didn’t act in the best interest of student-athletes is simply false.”
Earlier in the week, Auburn’s softball coach abruptly resigned, just weeks after he reportedly agreed to a contract extension.
