AUBURN, Ala. — Despite a dominant Week 1 win, Auburn football is staying put in one poll ahead of its trip to defending national champion Clemson.
The Tigers stayed at No. 13 in the Amway Coaches Poll, which was released Tuesday by USA Today.
Auburn remains the third-highest ranked SEC team in both rankings behind No. 1 Alabama and No. 12 LSU. No. 15 Georgia, No. 21 Tennessee and No. 24 Florida fill out the rest of the conference’s inclusions in the latest coaches’ poll.
Auburn will face off against a top-5 team Saturday when it travels Saturday night to play Clemson (7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT on ESPN). Clemson came in at No. 3 in the latest coaches poll, climbing two spot after Florida State’s loss to Alabama and USC’s close call against Western Michigan.
Based on the most recent rankings, Auburn has four top-25 teams left on the schedule: Clemson, LSU, Georgia and Alabama. Also on Auburn’s schedule, Mississippi State and Arkansas are narrowly outside of the top 25.
When two Tigers’ teams played in 2016, Clemson started the season at No. 2 and Auburn began unranked. It’ll be a much more high-profile game with two top-12 teams facing off on the national stage.
