Just off the mark?

When the AP Top 25 was released on Monday, some Auburn fans may have been slightly disappointed.

Even with all the hype surrounding Baylor transfer quarterback Jarrett Stidham and experts’ praises, the Tigers landed just outside of the top 10. But that’s not a bad thing at all.

Coach Gus Malzahn is being his typical secretive self, but chances are that Auburn is further along in deciding on starters than it’s revealing. If that’s the case, that means a motivated, focused group is preparing for the 2017 season and the Tigers might have just been given a little more inspiration.

Auburn’s players likely believe they are one of the top 10 teams in the country, but flying under the radar and being underestimated is typically when the Tigers thrive. With that said, and recent disappointments in mind, a No. 12 ranking might not be a bad thing at all.

Game day gets better 

There’s nothing quite like a football Saturday on the Plains, but that doesn’t mean Auburn isn’t striving to make those times even more memorable.

On Monday, the university released 25 enhancements for game days. Such upgrades include larger water cups, parking lots open earlier in the day, new concession stands and prize giveaways — among many others.
