Auburn football is the No. 1 topic in the War Eagle Wakeup every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across the Tigers’ sports world. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Auburn football, recruiting, basketball and more.

This is not just another normal weekend

Auburn’s game against No. 1 Georgia got a little bit bigger on Tuesday night when the Tigers officially claimed a spot in the top 10 of the College Football Playoff rankings.

Gus Malzahn’s team landed at No. 10 and will host the top-ranked squad Saturday.

As much as Auburn has struggled at times this season, it’s all starting to come together for the Tigers. Their two losses in two strikingly different Death Valleys may come in handy. And a Georgia team that hasn’t really been tested too much will get one tough exam on the Plains.

No fear

While Auburn fans have been displeased and, yes, even angry at times this season, they also have reason to be pumped for the weekend.

Malzahn’s football team isn’t just welcoming the Bulldogs to Jordan-Hare, but the Tigers will compete and even have a chance to win.

Keep these stats in mind when it seems like Auburn will be outmatched in its next outing:
