Arkansas football players freed after being stuck in elevator for nearly an hour

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Several members of Arkansas’ football team spent nearly an hour stuck in an elevator at the Fred W. Smith Center following practice Tuesday evening.

Pig Trail Nation reported 17 players were stuck, most of them linebackers. University maintenance and the local fire department combined to help free the players, according to the report.

A university spokesman told SEC Country none of the player were hurt.

The elevator likely was over max capacity when it got stuck. According to Trey Biddy of HawgSports, the combined weight of the players on board projects to have exceeded the estimated max capacity of 4,000 pounds.

Players often take the elevator to reach the dining hall (third floor) from the locker room (first floor) and vice versa.
