Alabama football drives the conversation here at the Rammer Jammer, SEC Country’s daily Alabama athletics recap, but we’ll cover news for every facet of the Crimson Tide. Every morning, we’ll be here for the latest on Alabama football, basketball and every sport on campus.
Topping the polls
The preseason AP Top 25 was revealed on Monday, with Alabama unsurprisingly topping the ranks. Ohio State rated second, while Alabama’s first opponent, Florida State, followed in third. The ranking bears out the TideSports’ staff prediction that the season opener against the Seminoles will be Alabama’s toughest game.
Despite that consensus, Alabama is a sizable favorite.
In other Alabama headlines …
- How does the Florida State offense compare to the as-yet-unveiled Alabama offense?
- Rashaan Evans wanted to be a quarterback but became a leader on the other side of the ball.
- Some coaches called Nick Saban overrated. Saban agreed.
- Linebacker Christian Miller has been patiently waiting for his chance. It’s time for that patience to pay off.
Where it Hurts
It’s become something of a tradition for quarterbacks to treat their protectors on the offensive line to dinner. Jalen Hurts held true to form on Sunday, taking the big men to dinner at Baumhower’s, the restaurant owned by former Alabama defensive lineman Bob Baumhower. No word on the bill, or how many full chickens were required to make all those wings.
Total eclipse of the heart, part 2
Despite Saban’s aggressive disinterest in the Great American Eclipse, several Alabama players showed out for the celestial event.
Bo Scarbrough's instagram story had video of players watching eclipse. It's kinda funny. pic.twitter.com/TsncVoViLK
