Damien Harris offered interesting insight about Jalen Hurts’ development.
On Monday, the Alabama running back spoke on The Paul Finebaum Show and said the Crimson Tide quarterback has become more of a vocal leader this season. Harris, who had 73 yards rushing on 9 carries with 1 touchdown in a victory over Florida State last Saturday, said he has seen Hurts grow in his vocal leadership as the young signal-caller has matured.
“I think he has taken that vocal leadership role more seriously this year,” Harris told Finebaum. “Last year, it was just about him making plays. He was a leader on the field, and everyone knows how dynamic Jalen is. He’s a great player. He’s a tremendous leader, but I think this year the more vocal side [is being shown].”
That’s good news for Alabama, which opened in a strong way at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Hurts completed 10 of 18 passes for 96 yards with 1 touchdown in the win over the Seminoles. He also had 55 yards rushing on 15 carries.
Expect Hurts to make more strides throughout the fall.
