Greg Schiano received an endorsement from New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick after a wild Sunday for Schiano and Tennessee.
On Monday, The MMQB’s Albert Breer used Twitter to relay word from the five-time Super Bowl-winning coach that Belichick would vouch for Schiano “100 percent.” The Patriots coach added that he has the “utmost respect” for Schiano.
Belichick’s words came a day after a reported deal between Schiano and Tennessee officials fell through because of massive backlash from fans.
Asked Patriots coach Bill Belichick if he'd vouch for Greg Schiano: "100 percent." Said he has "the utmost respect" for him and "zero reservations" about him.

Belichick has had a connection with Schiano for a while. Belichick’s son Stephen was a backup long snapper at Rutgers when Schiano was the coach there. Schiano had been rumored as a possibility to join Belichick’s staff after Schiano was fired at Tampa Bay following the 2013 season.
It’s fair for people to make up their own minds about Schiano. But that endorsement from someone of Belichick’s stature is strong.
