2017 SEC Country Power Poll: Where South Carolina is ranked (Week 13)

South Carolina closed out its second regular season under the direction of Will Muschamp with a 34-10 loss at home to rival Clemson.

“I told our team after, we’ve got to learn how to handle the moment better, obviously,” Muschamp said. “And we did not and that’s something that was addressed at the end of the game, I talked to the team in the locker room. I’m extremely proud of our seniors and the progress that we’ve made in two years.

“Extremely disappointed with [the Clemson game]. We’ve got to handle it better and we didn’t. We lost our cool at times, in some situations. I told them, in any situation, whether it was a defeat or a victory, you’ve got to learn from those situations and you’ve got to move forward. We need to learn from this.”

The Gamecocks (8-4, 5-3 SEC) will have an opportunity to bounce back in a bowl game. Three of the games in Florida are among the possibilities.

In this week’s SEC Country Power Poll, South Carolina remained in the No. 6 spot. All five of this season’s conference wins were agains teams that are lower in the weekly poll: Tennessee (14), Vanderbilt (13), Arkansas (12), Florida (11) and Missouri (8).
