2017 SEC Country Power Poll: Where LSU is ranked (Week 13)

With the regular season complete, the SEC Country Power Poll has crystallized into its final form heading into SEC Championship week. You’ll be hard-pressed to argue that LSU isn’t exactly in the spot where it belongs as the Tigers check in at No. 4 in the regular season’s final SEC power poll.

A team that the Tigers have defeated is the new No. 1 — that’d be Auburn, which knocked off Alabama 26-14 in the Iron Bowl. The three teams ahead of LSU in the poll — Auburn, Alabama and Georgia — each have one conference loss.

Next up is LSU, the lone SEC team to finish 6-2 in conference play. The Tigers fell on the road to Mississippi State and Alabama this season. LSU (9-3) concluded the regular season with a 45-21 drubbing of Texas A&M. Quarterback Danny Etling led the way with 347 passing yards as the LSU offense eclipsed 600 total yards.

Five teams the Tigers beat this season are replacing their head coaches, including the Aggies.

Next up for LSU is a bowl bid to a location yet to be determined. The quality of LSU’s bowl could be boosted if two SEC teams are invited to the College Football Playoff.
