2017 SEC Country Power Poll: Where Arkansas is ranked (Week 13)

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Well, at least it isn’t dead last.

As bad a season as Arkansas had on the football field, the Razorbacks were not, per our SEC Country staffers, the worst team in the SEC this year.

Arkansas checks in at 12 in the final regular-season SEC Country Power Poll. It’s the same ranking it had in the Week 12 poll. The university fired coach Bret Bielema moments after the Razorbacks lost to Missouri – the team picked to finish last in the league – on Friday evening. Bielema was 29-34 overall and 11-29 in the SEC in his five seasons.

It’s unclear who is the front-runner, if there is a front-runner, for the job next. Arkansas still must hire an athletic director, as well, after firing Jeff Long earlier this month. SEC Country believes, and interim athletic director Julie Cromer Peoples said, one of the top qualities for Bielema’s replacement is someone with a connection to Arkansas and/or the state culture.

Arkansas was ranked 14th in at least one poll. Tennessee also received a last-place vote. The highest any voter had the Hogs was eighth. Arkansas also finished above Vanderbilt, which beat Tennessee in both teams’ season finale this weekend.

Voters for the poll come from the SEC Country staff. Votes are not made public except at the voter’s discretion.

The Razorbacks open their 2018 season at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium against Eastern Illinois.
