Hawks’ Collins has not returned to practice

Season debut remains on hold with ankle injury

John Collins has not yet resume practice so the Hawks forward will continue to be sidelined by a left ankle injury.

The second-year forward has yet to appear in a game this season due to the injury. His return is not imminent, according to a person familiar with the situation. Collins was examined and had additional tests on Nov. 2, according to a statement released by the team Monday afternoon.

According to the statement: “The results show continued progression in his rehabilitation from mild inflammation and soreness in his left ankle. He has progressed to modified on-court drills and shooting routines with the goal of integrating him into modified team practice in the coming week.”

The Hawks (3-6) have three games this week before departing on a west coast road trip. They play at the Hornets Tuesday and at home against the Knicks on Wednesday and Pistons on Friday. A four-game road trip follows beginning at the Lakers on Sunday.

The Hawks did not announce another re-evaluation date for Collins.
