Michael Martinez, an Austell resident, has been unveiled as the winner of this year’s AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt design contest. His design, “A Stroll Down Peachtree,” highlights the roadways runners and walkers cross during the race and serves as an ode to the state of Georgia, with an outline of the state and embossed peach.

Before winning this year’s T-shirt contest, Martinez did not consider himself to be much of a creative.

“Now, I am a finalist in the T-shirt contest,” he told the Atlanta Track Club before winning. “My design may be worn by more than 60,000 individuals. Looking at it that way, I’ve already won.”

This will be Martinez’s fifth consecutive AJC Peachtree Road Race.

Only five metro Atlanta graphic designers made the cut for the T-shirt design contest, and more than 125 entries were reviewed by a panel of judges.

“The AJC Peachtree Road Race is a celebration of all things Atlanta,” said Rich Kenah, Atlanta Track Club’s executive director. “It is always exciting to see the creative ways Atlanta’s art community captures this 49-year-old Atlanta tradition event in their designs.”
