Driver in overturned tractor-trailer cited

The ramp from I-20 East to I-285 North in Fulton County reopened Monday nearly three hours after a tractor-trailer carrying 44,000 pounds of aluminum overturned.

The truck’s driver, who was allegedly driving too fast for conditions, was cited.

The big rig overturned just before 5:40 a.m. Monday, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Officials with the Georgia Department of Transportation said the tractor-trailer’s cargo spilled after the top of the truck split open, the Traffic Center reported.

At one point, trip times in excess of one hour were reported from Highway 92 to I-285.
