Recount confirms win for Williams over Teasley in Georgia House race

A recount showed that Democrat Mary Frances Williams defeated Republican state Rep. Sam Teasley in a race for a Marietta seat in the Georgia House of Representatives.

Teasley, who requested the recount, lost one vote when ballots were reviewed again by Cobb County election officials Friday.

Teasley lost re-election by 174 votes. The final count was 11,928 to 11,754, a margin of 0.73 percentage points. Teasley, a real estate agent, has served in the Georgia House since 2011.

In a separate recount Monday, Democrat Mary Robichaux won election against Republican state Rep. Betty Price for a Roswell state House district. Robichaux led Price by 162 votes.
