Georgia Rep. Betty Price wins Republican primary against Jere Wood

State Rep. Betty Price fended off a Republican Party challenge from former Roswell Mayor Jere Wood during Tuesday’s primary election.

Price, a retired physician, came under fire from Wood after she made fun of Democratic women and questioned whether HIV patients should be quarantined. Price has said her comments regarding an HIV quarantine were taken out of context.

Price, whose husband is former U.S. Health Secretary Tom Price, will face Democrat Mary Robichaux, a health care consultant, in the Nov. 6 general election for House District 48, which covers the Roswell area.
