Accenture to add more than 800 jobs in Atlanta

Business consultancy Accenture plans to expand its operations in Atlanta in a move that will create more than 800 largely tech-related jobs over the next few years, people familiar with the matter told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The announcement is expected to come during a Wednesday press conference with Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.

The Accenture expansion would be the latest in a string of high-profile technology jobs announcements for the city and state, and comes as leaders begin honing their pitch for the second Amazon North American headquarters project.

The exact nature of the Accenture jobs was not immediately known.

Honeywell, Sage Software, Anthem, Kaiser Permanente, NCR and GE Digital are among a roster of blue chip companies that have made significant software development jobs announcements in the city in the past few years.
