SPELL (Clark), Julia"Judy"

July 3, 1943 – November 2, 2021

Julia Clark Spell, 78, passed away on November 2, 2021 at home surrounded by her family after a long illness. She loved her family and dedicated her life as a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.

Judy was married to William M. Spell, for 55 years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Bill; son Clark Spell, wife Kathie; daughter Curry Wiles, husband Kristian; daughter Casey Alarcon, husband Carlos; grandchildren William and Ethan Spell; Samuel, Ellie and Henry Alarcon; Laysen and Adare Wiles; sister Bonnie Townsend and husband Allen and many nieces and nephews.

Judy was born July 3, 1943 to James Edison Clark and Louis Middleton Clark in Jefferson, South Carolina. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Pageland, South Carolina until leaving to pursue her education at The Presbyterian School of Nursing in Charlotte. After graduation she moved to Decatur, Georgia to begin her nursing career at Emory Hospital and later in private practice. As she began her work in nursing, she met and then married Bill Spell on November 13, 1966. After a successful and fulfilling nursing career, Judy retired to raise her family.

Judy had a lifelong love of music leading her to sing in various organizations and with the Mt. Bethel Methodist Choir for many years. When she wasn't singing, she loved painting and creating stained glass art. Judy was an avid tennis and card player competing in ALTA tennis

and joining her friends often for ladies' bridge nights. Later in life, Judy enjoyed traveling with Bill and never missed an opportunity to visit other countries or explore the U.S., but Judy's true passion and commitment was her family. She was always invested in the interests of her children and later her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on in all the big and little events and provide her love and support.

Although she will be missed by her family and all who knew her, we know Judy is once again healthy and fully restored in the arms of Jesus and surrounded by family and friends who passed before her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, November 8, at 11am in the Sanctuary of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, Georgia 30068 at 11 am. Reception and luncheon will be held following the service at the church.
